What a camera workout tracker actually does
Level Up Life uses live pose tracking for supported exercise trials. The camera view estimates body landmarks and the trial logic uses their movement to count a completed repetition. This removes the need to tap the screen after every rep and connects the finished set directly to RPG progression.
Supported camera-counted movements
Camera verification is available for supported trials rather than every possible exercise. The current set includes push-ups, squats and sit-ups. Other habits and workouts can still contribute to your routine through the app’s quest and log systems.
How to position your phone for a cleaner count
Pose tracking needs a stable, unobstructed view of the movement. A few setup choices make a large difference:
- Place the phone on a stable surface instead of holding it or leaning it where it can slide.
- Keep your full movement inside the frame, including the joints that change position during the exercise.
- Use even lighting and avoid a bright window directly behind you.
- Choose an angle where your body does not disappear behind furniture or other people.
- Test one slow repetition before beginning the set and adjust if it is not detected.
Why a repetition may be missed
Camera angle, distance, loose clothing, occlusion, low light and device performance can affect detection. Human movement also varies. If the count is inconsistent, pause and change the setup rather than changing your form to satisfy the camera.
A motivation tool—not a form coach or medical device
A counted repetition does not guarantee safe technique. Level Up Life is designed for motivation and tracking, not diagnosis, medical guidance or professional coaching. Choose exercises appropriate for your ability, stop if you feel pain and seek qualified advice when needed.
Frequently asked questions
Which exercises can Level Up Life count with the camera?
Supported camera-counted trials currently include push-ups, squats and sit-ups. The app also includes habits and activities that do not use camera counting.
Does camera counting replace a personal trainer?
No. It can detect supported movement patterns and count repetitions, but it does not certify safe form, provide medical advice or replace a qualified trainer.
What should I do if repetitions are not counted?
Make sure your full movement is visible, improve the lighting, stabilize the phone and try a clearer side or front angle before restarting the set.
